2019年（令和元年）5月の星空【みずがめ座η（エータ）流星群と晴れた空】
ブラックホールの撮影に成功！その場所は夕方、東の空！
平成31年4月10日、国立天文台などのALMA望遠鏡研究チームがM87銀河のブラックホールの撮影に成功したというニュースが大きく取り上げられました。場所はおとめ座、春の大三角の中です。

昔はデネボラではなくレグルスというのを電気科学館で聞いたのは昔のこと・・・あまりにも大きすぎますよね。春にも三角はあります！
4月30日～5月3日、月と金星がならぶ。
夜明け前の東の空低くなった金星に、4月末から5月2日に月が接近します。夜明け前の低い位置ですが明るい【明けの明星】を楽しむチャンスです。金星はしだいに見えにくくなりますが、秋には夕方に【宵の明星】として見えます。

金星はこのようにしだいに低く見えにくくなります。夜明け前の金星（明けの明星）は今年は7月上旬までくらいとなります。
5月6日～7日、月とプレアデス星団、ヒアデス星団がならぶ。8日、月と火星がならぶ。
5月6日～7日、夕方西の空低く、月とアルデバラン（Aldebaran）、「ヒアデス（Hyades）星団（Mel 25）」がならびます。ヒアデス星団はおうし座の顔をつくる星の集まりで、40個ほどの星の集団す。およそ150光年の距離にあります。アルデバランはこの星団の仲間ではなく距離は67光年ほどです。しかしこのアルデバランから「V」の字のようにならぶ星団がおうし座の顔の部分となっています。西の空低く、細い月ですからヒアデス星団、その隣の「プレアデス（Pleiades）星団（M45）」と写真に収めるのもいいでしょう。プレアデス星団は日本では「すばる」の名前で知られています。「すばる」とは「あつまる」という意味の昔からの日本の言葉です。こちらはおよそ150個ほどの星の集団で約440光年の距離にあります。まだ誕生してから間もない星たちですが、その年齢は1億歳ほど！？といわれています。

5月6日23時みずがめ座η（エータ）流星群が極大
今年はいくつか月明かりの影響がない流星群がありますが、このみずがめ座η流星群もそうで、極大の5月6日から7日夜明け前にかけては新月直後で月明かりがありません。放射点（輻射点）が夜明け前に南東の空低いので見えにくいのですが、空の条件のいいところでは1時間あたり十数個の流星を見ることができます。また明るく流星痕を残すものも多いので市街地でも大流星を見るチャンスがあります。

極大（ピーク）時刻は日本時間で午後11時とされていますが、この頃は放射点が地平線下で出現は期待できません。見えるのは7日未明から夜明け前がチャンスです。また5月4日の13時～19時ごろにも以前観測された「ダストトレイル」という、母天体から出た流星のもとになるチリ（ダスト）の集まりに突入する予想もされます。日本からはあまり条件がよくありませんが、南半球からは条件が良く三大流星群よりも大きな出現が期待できます。

これは私も難解だったのですが、名前のとおり酪農に関する呼び名です。１日２回搾乳から１日３回搾乳にすることができる月という意味です。これは私が酪農に縁がないために理解しにくかったのですが、乳牛の食料がじゅうぶんになり、搾乳回数が増やすことができ、１日に３回搾乳することができるようになる季節という意味だそうです。これも生活に直結する重要な意味がある月の名前ですね。ある意味「Milk Moon」より「”Full” Milk Moon」が最も適した響きに聞こえます。
